The YSR Congress Party’s ambitious campaign to gather one crore signatures, protesting the state government’s purported plans to privatize public medical colleges, is rapidly gaining traction across Tirupati and Kadapa districts.
Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy has emerged as a key figure in this movement, not only signing the petition himself but also passionately appealing for widespread public participation. He sharply criticized the NDA administration for consistently dismantling the accomplishments of the previous YSRCP government, highlighting the alleged privatization of government medical colleges as the most recent example. “These institutions are vital for providing affordable medical care and education to the less privileged through the public system,” Reddy stated. “However, they are being privatized with undue haste, primarily to benefit a select few, which will inevitably push quality medical education out of reach for countless aspiring students from disadvantaged backgrounds.”
Meanwhile, in Tirupati, the campaign found another vocal leader in Bhumana Abhinay Reddy, the party’s Assembly constituency coordinator and former Deputy Mayor. He actively engaged with local residents, tirelessly collecting signatures and raising awareness about the issue.
Abhinay Reddy also drew a stark contrast by pointing out that the previous TDP government, led by Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, failed to establish even a single medical college during its 14-year tenure. He further condemned the current NDA government for allegedly disseminating false information, claiming the newly established colleges were not ready for operation, despite clear evidence to the contrary.
