The Hyderabad-based Lepra Society, a dedicated non-governmental organization focused on leprosy care, has received a prestigious accolade from the World Health Organization (WHO) South-East Asia Region. They have been named a ‘Public Health Champion’ for their groundbreaking DiMPLE (Digital Measurement for Paduka Footwear) initiative.
DiMPLE technology is a true game-changer. It meticulously captures foot measurements and images digitally, enabling the creation of custom-fitted footwear remotely. This innovative solution significantly boosts the independence and quality of life for people living with leprosy, who often require specialized protective footwear to prevent serious complications.
Prasanta Kumar Naik, CEO of Lepra Society, shared his appreciation, stating, ‘This award celebrates the tireless dedication of our health workers, volunteers, and partners in broadening access to care for vulnerable communities. With continued support and donations, we are committed to expanding innovations like DiMPLE, ensuring compassionate and inclusive care reaches even more marginalized individuals.’
