Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister, D. Sridhar Babu, has strongly denied any government negligence regarding the ongoing road expansion work on National Highway 163. His remarks come in the wake of a horrific accident where a tipper lorry collided with a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) bus, tragically killing 19 people on the stretch between Moinabad in Rangareddy and Manneguda in Vikarabad.
Minister Babu clarified that the State Government successfully presented its case before the National Green Tribunal (NGT), which subsequently issued a favorable decision, allowing the road expansion to proceed. “We have officially begun the road expansion work,” he stated after inspecting the accident site on Monday, November 3, 2025, “and we are fully committed to completing it within 18 months to ensure the road is fully accessible and safe for the public.”
He further added that the road expansion efforts had been delayed for several months due to petitions filed by various individuals with the NGT. Criticizing the opposition, he remarked, “It has sadly become customary for some to politicize every situation. Even in the face of such a devastating accident, trying to transform it into a political dispute is neither appropriate nor ethical. I trust the public’s judgment on this matter.”
