The southwest monsoon has officially concluded its season in Telangana. As of Thursday, October 16, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed the monsoon’s complete withdrawal from the state, a process that started earlier in the month.
According to Dharma Raju, a scientist at IMD Centre Hyderabad, this shift means that northeasterly winds will now influence the region’s weather. While states like Tamil Nadu and the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh will soon experience the northeast monsoon, Telangana won’t directly receive its impact. However, some southern districts of Telangana might still get rainfall due to their closeness to Andhra Pradesh.
Looking ahead to Friday, October 17, the IMD has issued a thunderstorm alert for 12 districts across Telangana. These areas can expect thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in isolated spots. The affected districts include Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhongir, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy.
For Hyderabad and its surrounding areas, the forecast for the next 24 hours indicates a partly cloudy sky with mist or hazy conditions likely in the morning. Temperatures are expected to hover around 32 degrees Celsius for the maximum and 19 degrees Celsius for the minimum.
