What began as a carefree Sunday outing took a heartbreaking turn at Mypadu beach in Nellore district, as three senior Intermediate students tragically drowned.
The young victims were identified as 17-year-olds Pathan Humayun and Sameed, both residents of Kotamitta Colony in Nellore city, and Pathan Mohammad Tazeem, also 17, from Narayanareddypeta.
Police reported that despite warnings from onlookers, the boys ventured into the sea and were quickly swept away by powerful tides. Local fishermen, hearing their desperate calls for help, bravely intervened but were unable to prevent the tragedy. They later managed to retrieve the bodies, which were subsequently transported to the Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.
In the wake of this devastating incident, Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy, representing the constituency that encompasses Mypadu beach, extended her deepest condolences to the grieving families. She urgently called for a review and significant improvement of safety protocols along the beach, appealing to all visitors to strictly observe warnings to prevent future tragedies and ensure everyone’s leisure time remains safe.
