Young batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi made a spectacular impact in the Ranji Trophy, responding to his India A call-up with a blistering 93 runs off just 67 deliveries during Bihar’s clash against Meghalaya. The 17-year-old’s innings, highlighted by nine fours and four sixes, was a testament to his fluid and aggressive strokeplay, though he narrowly missed a well-deserved century.
Suryavanshi’s innings concluded at 93 when he was dismissed by Meghalaya spinner Bijon Dey. Earlier in the match, Meghalaya had declared their first innings at a formidable 408/7, propelled by impressive scores from Ajay Duha (129) and Swastic (94).
Following this stellar performance, Suryavanshi, along with IPL talent Priyansh Arya, has been named in the Jitesh Sharma-led India A squad for the upcoming Rising Stars Asia Cup. This tournament is scheduled to take place in Doha later this month.
India A finds itself in Group B, competing against Oman, UAE, and Pakistan A, while Group A comprises Bangladesh A, Hong Kong, Afghanistan A, and Sri Lanka A. The competition will run from November 14 to 23. India A will kick off their campaign on November 14 against UAE, followed by a highly anticipated match against Pakistan A on November 16.
Suryavanshi is undoubtedly a player to watch, having already made history this year as the youngest centurion in men’s T20 cricket. He achieved this feat with a remarkable 101-run knock for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans in the IPL. Furthermore, he also scored a century in an India U-19 Youth Test match against Australia A in Brisbane just last month.
