Teenage Cricket Star Vaibhav Suryavanshi Receives Playful Fitness Warning from Rajasthan Royals Coach

Cricket fans are buzzing after a light-hearted video call featuring the incredibly talented 14-year-old batsman, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, and Rajasthan Royals batting coach Vikram Rathour went viral. Rathour, also a former India batting coach, shared a playful exchange with the young prodigy, currently showcasing his skills with the India U19 squad in Australia.

Suryavanshi is in Australia preparing for the second Youth Test against Australia U19, set to begin on Tuesday, October 7, at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay.

During the video call, Rathour, with a mischievous grin, inquired about Suryavanshi’s well-being and fitness. He then playfully delivered a “warning” that quickly captured attention: “Wo toh dekhne mein pata chalega. Aaja tu” (We’ll only know once I see you. Just come back first!). The young batter responded with a quiet smile and a “yes,” clearly understanding his coach’s humorous reminder to stay sharp and ready for a fitness assessment upon his return from national duty. He then briefly greeted another member of the Royals’ coaching staff before concluding the call.

This talented teenager has been in phenomenal form throughout the ongoing youth tour. In the first Youth Test against Australia U19, Suryavanshi lit up the scoreboard with a blistering 113 runs off just 86 balls, reaching his century in a mere 78 deliveries. His spectacular innings featured nine fours and eight sixes, and he was instrumental in a crucial 152-run partnership with Vedant Trivedi.

India went on to post a commanding total of 428 in their first innings before swiftly dismissing the hosts, securing a dominant victory by an innings and 58 runs. As Australia looks to stage a comeback in the upcoming decider at Mackay, India will be aiming to maintain their impressive form.

Suryavanshi’s meteoric rise in cricket has been truly remarkable. He etched his name in history by making his Ranji Trophy debut for Uttar Pradesh at an astonishing age of just 12 years and 284 days, becoming the youngest player ever in the tournament. His journey continued with the Rajasthan Royals, who secured him in the IPL 2025 auction when he was just 13.

He further cemented his reputation in the IPL with an unforgettable 38-ball 101, which stands as the second-fastest century in IPL history—only behind Chris Gayle’s legendary 30-ball ton in 2013—and an unprecedented achievement as the fastest ever by an Indian player.
