NEW DELHI: Exciting news for cricket fans! India’s assistant coach, Ryan ten Doeschate, has confirmed that star pacer Jasprit Bumrah is highly likely to feature in the upcoming two-match Test series against the West Indies, commencing October 2nd. This revelation comes as a significant update regarding Bumrah’s availability, with the team management emphasizing the need for him to get crucial match time.

Speaking ahead of India’s Super Four encounter against Bangladesh, ten Doeschate stated, “It’s unlikely that Bumrah will be rested. He’s set to play the West Indies Tests. We’ve got important matches coming up, and it’s good for him to keep playing and get more match time.”
The highly anticipated Test series will kick off on October 2nd at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The action then moves to Delhi for the second and final Test, which will be played from October 10th at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Beyond Bumrah’s return, ten Doeschate also took a moment to commend India’s impressive unbeaten streak in the Asia Cup. However, he was quick to highlight the team’s continuous drive for improvement, especially after what he described as a “scrappy” and “not clinical enough” performance against Pakistan.
“The last week has been tough, but the way the boys played in those two games (against Pakistan) was amazing. Abu Dhabi wasn’t ideal — it took us longer to travel and recover. Shubman also didn’t get the preparation he wanted, he was keen on getting some practice in,” he elaborated on the challenges faced and the team’s resilience.
The assistant coach further shed light on India’s strategy regarding player rotation, acknowledging the constraints in a high-stakes tournament like the Asia Cup. “We tried giving everyone a chance against Oman. In bilateral series you can test bench strength, but in the Asia Cup it’s more difficult,” he added, explaining the careful balance between managing player workloads and competitive necessities.
