Anantapur police recently announced the arrest of four individuals implicated in the abduction and brutal assault of a man identified as Shankar. His perceived transgression? Marrying a widowed woman.
The horrific incident unfolded on October 29 near Ramnagar in the city. According to police reports, the accused – Janardhan Reddy and three accomplices – forcibly dragged Shankar into an SUV. They then transported him to secluded fields near Vadiyampet, where he was subjected to a merciless beating using iron rods, cables, a belt, and a stick. Shankar is currently receiving urgent medical care at Anantapur General Hospital for his injuries.
Authorities at the IV-Town police station have registered an attempt-to-murder case. Investigators have successfully seized the vehicle and the various weapons utilized in the vicious attack. Circle-Inspector Jagadish confirmed that all four accused are now in police custody, bringing a measure of justice to this shocking act of violence.
