Regional authorities in Russia reported a Ukrainian drone attack on the Sterlitamak petrochemical plant, located deep within Russian territory. The strike on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, damaged a water-treatment facility, causing a partial collapse, but fortunately, no injuries were sustained.
Radiy Khabirov, head of the Bashkortostan region, confirmed via Telegram that the plant, situated about 1,500 km from the Ukrainian border in the Ural Mountains, continued operations without interruption despite the attack.
Khabirov further stated that both drones involved in the overnight operation were successfully destroyed. In its daily report, the Russian Defence Ministry claimed its air defense systems intercepted a total of 83 drones across seven different Russian regions, including the two over Bashkortostan.
Local authorities in Sterlitamak, the city hosting the plant, reiterated that all five employees present at the facility during the incident were unharmed.
Ukraine has not yet issued an official statement regarding the attack. However, Kyiv has increasingly escalated its long-range drone and missile strikes deep within Russian territory, targeting oil refineries, supply depots, and critical logistics hubs. Ukraine asserts these targets are vital to sustaining Russia’s military efforts.
While Moscow condemns these actions as terrorism, Ukraine maintains that such strikes constitute legitimate self-defense in response to the full-scale invasion launched by Russia in February 2022.
