The Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) has unveiled an exciting new grading and registration system, designed to create a robust player pathway and strengthen its grassroots cricket foundation.

Starting from Season 4, aspiring players will only be able to enter the league through officially affiliated zonal panels and tournaments. This means direct registrations, which were previously permitted, will no longer be accepted. Each player must first register with a zonal panel or federation through an ISPL-affiliated competition, undergoing identity verification and meticulous performance tracking.
Suraj Samat, ISPL League Commissioner and Core Committee Member, emphasized the significance of this shift: “The Indian Street Premier League’s remarkable growth is a testament to the immense passion for tennis-ball cricket across the nation. By implementing a rigorous and competitive framework, we are committed to identifying and nurturing emerging talent while strengthening the broader cricketing ecosystem. This structured approach ensures a sustainable future for the sport and reinforces ISPL’s role as a catalyst for inclusive development and professional excellence.”
This new system ensures that all auction entries will come from players officially registered through these zonal bodies and actively participating in affiliated events. The goal is to establish a clear and credible pathway from local street cricket right up to the ISPL, maintaining high standards of quality and fairness in talent selection.
To facilitate this framework, zonal panels and federations will take on key responsibilities, including organizing tournaments, ensuring leagues adhere to ISPL standards, submitting official scorecards, and forwarding detailed performance reports to the ISPL headquarters.
Performance-Based Grading Model
At the core of this innovative system is a comprehensive performance-based grading model. Players will earn points for various on-field contributions, including:
- Runs scored: 1 point per run
- 9-run contributions: 10 points for each instance
- Half-century bonus: 10 points for each instance
- Century bonus: 25 points for each instance
- Wicket taken: 20 points per wicket
- 5-wicket haul: 30 points per instance
- Dot ball bowled: 2 points per dot ball
- Catch taken: 10 points per catch
- Run out (direct hit): 15 points per instance
- Stumping: 15 points each
- Player of the match award: 30 points
This detailed points system allows players to accumulate scores across multiple tournaments, enabling consistent and top-performing individuals to steadily climb the official rankings. The top 1,000 players will have their live rankings published on the ISPL website, and all participants can monitor their progress via the official ISPL app. The selection window for Season 4 is set from December 15, 2025, to September 15, 2026. Following this period, the top 1,000 ranked players will be invited to participate in “stimulation matches,” from which 450 will ultimately be shortlisted for the highly anticipated player auction.
