India’s promising batter, Prithvi Shaw, has offered a heartfelt insight into his mindset as he prepares for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season. In a reflective Instagram post, he shared images of himself engaging in prayers and a pooja, symbolizing a journey towards inner calm and clarity.
“Prayers that calm my heart and guide my path,” his caption read, clearly indicating his renewed focus for what promises to be a pivotal campaign in his career.

Shaw, who recently made the switch from Mumbai to Maharashtra, has been named in the state’s 16-member squad for the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season, set to commence on October 15. Maharashtra will kick off their challenge against Kerala in Thiruvananthapuram, with Ankeet Bawane leading the team as its full-time captain.
The 25-year-old is eagerly anticipating a fresh start in red-ball cricket, especially after a challenging period that saw him lose his regular spot in Mumbai’s lineup. Early signs are positive, as he showcased exceptional form by smashing 181 runs in a warm-up match against his former team, Mumbai. In that game, he forged a formidable 305-run opening partnership with Arshin Kulkarni, who also notched up a century, underlining the strength of Maharashtra’s top order.

Beyond his on-field preparations, Shaw has also taken steps to mend relationships, notably apologizing for a recent altercation with former Mumbai teammate Musheer Khan. A source close to the matter confirmed to TOI, “Prithvi realized his mistake, and approached Musheer and apologized to him. Prithvi told him that ‘I am like an elder brother to you.’ So all is well between the two.” This incident occurred during a friendly match against Mumbai, which was live-streamed by the Maharashtra Cricket Association.
Adding further depth to the squad, seasoned all-rounder Jalaj Saxena has also joined Maharashtra, following a successful tenure with Kerala, where he was instrumental in their journey to last season’s Ranji Trophy final. Saxena’s invaluable experience is expected to significantly strengthen Maharashtra’s middle order as they chase a triumphant campaign.
Shaw’s recent Instagram activity and his proactive efforts reflect a clear commitment to both personal and professional growth. His spiritual reflections and reconciliation efforts appear to be part of a renewed mindset, as he aims to revitalize his red-ball career with Maharashtra in the much-anticipated upcoming season.
