Mumbai: Prithvi Shaw has officially apologized to Musheer Khan following a heated on-field incident during a friendly match between Mumbai and Maharashtra. The altercation occurred on Day One of the game at the MCA Stadium in Gahunje, Pune, shortly after Shaw, representing Maharashtra, completed a brilliant century against his old side.

Footage from the match showed Shaw reacting angrily towards Musheer, even being seen rushing at him and grabbing him by the collar after his impressive hundred.

A screengrab shows Prithvi Shaw and Musheer Khan during their heated on-field altercation, where Shaw was seen reacting angrily towards the younger player.

However, by Day three of the same match (which was live-streamed by the Maharashtra Cricket Association), a different scene unfolded. After the dismissal of his opening partner Arshin Kulkarni, Shaw approached Musheer, wrapped an arm around the all-rounder’s neck, and engaged in what appeared to be a friendly conversation. Musheer reciprocated by placing his hands on Shaw’s waist during the amicable exchange.

“Prithvi realized his mistake and approached Musheer to apologize. He told him that ‘I am like an older brother to you.’ So, all is well between the two,” a source close to the players confirmed.

It’s worth noting that Shaw and Musheer’s elder brother, Sarfaraz Khan, share a long-standing childhood friendship, having been teammates at Rizvi Springfield School and for Mumbai, batting together frequently.

In the match, opening for Maharashtra, Shaw smashed a magnificent 181 runs off 220 balls, including 21 fours and three sixes, on Day One. He established a massive 305-run opening partnership with Arshin Kulkarni, who also scored an excellent century, hitting 186 off just 140 balls with 33 fours and four sixes, after Maharashtra chose to bat first.

Sarfaraz Cleared for Ranji Trophy

In other significant news for Mumbai cricket, Sarfaraz Khan has successfully completed his injury rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru and is now declared fit to participate in the upcoming Ranji Trophy. The experienced middle-order batsman is set to join the Mumbai team for their opening match against Jammu & Kashmir, scheduled for October 15. The Mumbai selectors, led by Sanjay Patil, will finalize the squad for this first game on Friday. Sarfaraz had previously sustained a quadriceps injury after scoring consecutive hundreds in the Buchi Babu Trophy, which unfortunately kept him out of the Duleep Trophy and Irani Trophy.
