The Indian cricket team will take the field without all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy in the third One-Day International against Australia on Saturday at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Reddy’s absence marks one of two significant changes for the visitors in this series, which they have already lost.
Australia has dominated the three-match ODI series, securing wins in Perth and Adelaide to take an unassailable 2-0 lead. This final match offers India a chance to experiment and prevent a clean sweep.
Nitish Kumar Reddy sustained a left quadriceps injury during the second ODI in Adelaide, making him unavailable for selection in the third game. The BCCI Medical Team is closely monitoring his recovery.
At the toss, Australia’s captain Mitchell Marsh won the coin toss and opted to bat first. The home side made a single adjustment to their playing XI, bringing in Nathan Ellis to replace Xavier Bartlett.
For India, led by Shubman Gill, two changes were announced. Alongside Reddy, Arshdeep Singh has also been rested, with Kuldeep Yadav and Prasidh Krishna stepping into the playing XI.
India’s Playing XI: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, KL Rahul, Washington Sundar, Harshit Rana, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna.
Australia’s Playing XI: Mitchell Marsh, Travis Head, Matthew Short, Matt Renshaw, Alex Carey, Cooper Connolly, Mitchell Owen, Nathan Ellis, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, and Josh Hazlewood.
