In a notable shift within the Indian cricket landscape, V Chamundeswaranath has stepped in as the new players’ representative on the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Apex Council. He replaces the esteemed former India captain, Dilip Vengsarkar, who concluded his three-year term that began in 2022. Chamundeswaranath, a former Andhra captain, previously served on the Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council. That role will now be filled by Shubhangi Kulkarni, a former captain of the India women’s team, who was also a previous women’s nominee on the Apex Council.
These significant appointments follow the Indian Cricketers’ Association (ICA) General Elections, held on October 15 and 16, 2025. A historic outcome of these elections was the appointment of former India women’s team captain, Shantha Rangaswamy, as the ICA’s first-ever female president.
The ICA highlighted the significance of these elections, noting that for the first time, two women will serve on its Board, alongside a female president and a female nominee to the IPL Governing Council. This, the association stated, underscores its dedication to inclusive representation and progressive leadership within Indian cricket.
