Team India’s prominent pace bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, has offered his perspective on the much-anticipated third clash against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025. This unique situation sees the two cricketing giants facing each other thrice within the same tournament, culminating in the final.
India has already demonstrated its dominance by successfully chasing down targets set by Pakistan in their prior two encounters during this tournament.
When directly asked about the prospect of battling Pakistan for a third time, Bumrah’s response was a simple yet telling, “interesting.”
“It has been exciting. Not very often in a multinational tournament do you play one opposition three times, so ‘interesting’ is the word for me,” Jasprit Bumrah stated to the broadcaster before the toss. He elaborated on the team’s mindset, stressing, “Any game, you start from zero. You start with confidence, but you do not go too high or too low. We only focus on our teams, our strengths, our combinations; we do well. If we look at the other team, it does not work well.”
As the final approaches, India maintains an impeccable undefeated record, while Pakistan’s only two losses in the tournament have both come against India.
Bumrah also spoke about his specific role in bowling during the Powerplay. He mentioned that the team management has expressed a desire for him to deliver crucial overs early in the innings, a responsibility that brings back memories of his initial international career days in 2016.
“It is a different role. The team has wanted to use me up front. Something that is very new for me as well. Not used to doing this role. Remember doing it in 2016 when I first came into the side. Trying to contribute to the best of my ability,” Bumrah clarified.
The seasoned bowler was notably rested for two matches during the Asia Cup tournament to manage his workload.
Discussing the nature of the T20 format, Bumrah highlighted how the Indian Premier League (IPL) has significantly boosted players’ confidence. “In this format, you do not look at reputation. IPL has helped a lot. Youngsters in our team are confident and they know they are very good,” he added.
Bumrah reiterated that despite their previous triumphs over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025, both teams will step onto the field for the final with a fresh approach. The consistent strong performances from both sides throughout the tournament promise an electrifying and memorable final match.
