Indian cricket stars Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul are currently honing their skills at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. This significant training session, their first together since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2025-26, comes as the national team competes in the Asia Cup in Dubai, highlighting their dedicated preparation for upcoming assignments.
Recent video footage released by the BCCI showcased both players demonstrating confident and powerful batting performances in the nets. The image captures Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul immersed in their training at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
The BCCI confirmed their rigorous schedule, stating, “As part of their preparation for the upcoming assignments, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul trained at the BCCI Centre Of Excellence focusing on skills and strength training. Both players simulated the different conditions on offer at the CoE during their stint.”
KL Rahul is slated to feature in the second multi-day game against Australia A, commencing September 23 at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. He, along with pacer Mohammed Siraj, has been named in the squad for this crucial fixture.
This upcoming match will mark Rahul’s return to professional cricket since the England Test series, where he was a standout performer, finishing as the third-highest run-scorer with an impressive 532 runs at an average of 53, including two centuries and two half-centuries.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma, having stepped away from Tests and T20Is, is fully concentrating on his comeback to One-Day International cricket. He is anticipated to captain India in the three-match ODI series against Australia this October.
The ODI series will kick off on October 19 at Perth’s Optus Stadium, with subsequent matches scheduled for Adelaide on October 23 and Sydney on October 25. Sharma took a break from cricket after the IPL season, during which the Indian team toured England. His decision to retire from Test cricket before the England series means he is now a dedicated one-format player, focusing solely on ODIs.
Their rigorous training at the Centre of Excellence clearly underscores their unwavering commitment to maintaining peak form and fitness for their respective challenges, with both players intensely focused on their unique roles across different formats of the game.
This dedicated preparation highlights the critical role of specialized training in ensuring they are ready to make significant contributions for both the Indian national team and India A.
