A heartwarming video shared by the BCCI has captured a memorable moment between Indian cricket stars: former captain Rohit Sharma warmly embracing Shubman Gill, his successor as the ODI captain.
The footage opens with Shubman Gill playfully placing his hand on Rohit’s shoulder, to which the senior player responds with an affectionate, ‘Arey hero, kya haal hai bhai?‘ (Hey hero, how are you doing, brother?). The two then share a genuine hug, both visibly smiling.

Following this, Gill was then greeted by batting stalwart Virat Kohli, who was seated alongside the newly appointed vice-captain, Shreyas Iyer.

Kohli offered a handshake and a friendly pat on the back, before Gill engaged in a brief discussion with Iyer.
This reunion comes as India prepares for a crucial three-match ODI series in Australia, beginning this Sunday, followed by games in Adelaide and Sydney.
It will be followed by a five-match T20 International series, with the format specialists tentatively set to leave on October 22nd, and matches commencing October 29th.
The ODI series has sparked considerable debate among fans and pundits regarding the future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the 50-over format, especially since both have now retired from Tests and T20Is.
Addressing this speculation, former cricketer Gautam Gambhir, after India’s 2-0 Test series victory over the West Indies, emphasized the importance of focusing on the present. ‘The 50-over World Cup is still two and a half years away. It is very important to stay in the present. Obviously, they are quality players. They are coming back. Their experience is going to be valuable in Australia,’ Gambhir stated during a post-series press conference.
‘Hopefully, those two guys can have a successful tour, and more importantly, as a team, we can have a successful series,’ Gambhir added when asked about the future of the two former skippers.
