Indian cricket star Hardik Pandya openly shared his profound disappointment after missing the Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan due to a left quadriceps injury. India ultimately secured their record ninth title with a convincing five-wicket win. Pandya, who was a key player in all six preliminary matches before Rinku Singh stepped in for him in the final, conveyed his feelings about India’s triumphant journey in a video released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

India’s dominance was undeniable throughout the tournament. They remained undefeated and clinically chased down a target of 147 runs in just 19.4 overs in the final. Reflecting on the team’s resilience, Pandya added, “These high-pressure games will definitely benefit us in the long term, preparing us for future challenges. The way we maintained our composure was truly fantastic.”
The entire tournament served as a testament to India’s exceptional adaptability and their consistent ability to perform under pressure, with very few matches truly testing their mettle.
Pandya further elaborated on their T20 philosophy: “T20 cricket is all about coming out, dominating, and playing a fearless brand of cricket while continuously learning and adapting. I believe this team is truly embracing that.”
A significant highlight of the tournament was the stellar performance of opener Abhishek Sharma. He amassed over 300 runs at an astonishing strike rate of 200, playing a crucial role in India’s success. “Abhishek’s effort at the top was simply outstanding,” Pandya lauded his teammate. “The fearlessness he demonstrated, winning half the game for us right in the Power Play, was incredible.”
Pandya himself made a notable contribution, claiming four wickets in six matches with an economy rate of 8.57, often sharing the new ball responsibilities with premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. “I always relish any role assigned to me, and this time, being given the new ball was something I truly enjoyed,” Pandya remarked on his versatility. “My batting has always been a constant, ready whenever the team needs it, and that’s how I prefer to play.”
The dynamic all-rounder underscored his dedication to bowling, emphasizing that it has been his primary focus recently. “For a considerable time now, bowling has been my top priority,” Pandya explained. “When I bowl, my batting always takes care of itself. I genuinely see myself as a pure fast bowler and take immense pride in that. It demands a lot of hard work and discipline, a consistent effort I truly enjoy.”
This monumental victory extended India’s record to an incredible ninth Asia Cup title, solidifying their undisputed dominance in continental cricket.
