Indian cricket star Hardik Pandya is slated to arrive at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru on Tuesday for a thorough evaluation of his left quadricep injury. This crucial assessment will determine his path to recovery and future playing schedule.
Pandya sustained the left quadricep injury during an Asia Cup 2025 match against Sri Lanka. This unfortunate setback forced him to sit out the tournament’s final against Pakistan and subsequently miss the entire tour of Australia, which included both One Day Internationals and T20Is. The BCCI medical team had initially recommended a rest period of four to six weeks. Fortunately, current reports suggest that surgery will not be necessary, and the dynamic all-rounder is hopeful of making a comeback to competitive cricket as early as next month, pending a successful assessment at the CoE. During his six Asia Cup appearances, Pandya showcased his dual threat, taking four wickets and contributing a valuable 38 runs against Bangladesh.
In Pandya’s absence, India called up young talent Nitish Kumar Reddy to the squad for the Australian tour. All eyes will be on Reddy to see how he performs in the challenging conditions Down Under, especially after his impressive showing in last year’s Border Gavaskar Trophy. Meanwhile, the rest of the Indian squad is also in motion; Virat Kohli has already joined the team in Delhi, with captain Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer expected to follow suit shortly before their departure for Australia.
