In a recent commentary session, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra didn’t hold back, delivering a sharp critique of Pakistan’s performance while highlighting the Indian Women’s team’s undeniable dominance in One Day International (ODI) cricket. He pointed out, “Here, you don’t need evidence to prove whether you win or lose, the proof is visible to everyone. And that proof is, India leads 11-0,” referring to India Women’s remarkable unbeaten record against Pakistan in ODIs. This impactful statement emerged amidst ongoing political tensions and various contentious claims from Pakistan.

Supporting this sentiment, India men’s team captain Suryakumar Yadav also dismissed the idea of any genuine rivalry between the women’s teams. He confidently stated, “I’ll again say rivalry is when the competition is neck to neck. 11-0 is not a rivalry. If our women’s team focuses on playing good cricket, it will be 12-0.” His words reflect a strong belief in the Indian team’s ability to extend their winning streak.
On the field, the Indian Women’s team maintained firm control during their ICC Women’s World Cup encounter. Pakistan struggled significantly in their chase of a modest target. After 36 overs, Pakistan had managed only 130 runs for the loss of five wickets in their 50-over innings, with a challenging 118 runs still needed from 84 balls to match India’s total.
Early in the innings, Muneeba Ali was dismissed for 21, followed by Sadaf Shamas (6) and Aliya Riaz (28), who also fell cheaply. However, Sidra Amin provided some resistance, scoring a steady 66 runs off 49 balls at an impressive strike rate of 170.21. Natalia Pervaiz contributed 33 runs. Pakistan captain Fatima Sana could only add 21 before being caught by Smriti Mandhana off Deepti Sharma’s bowling. Sidra Nawaz remained unbeaten with 11 runs.
India’s bowlers delivered a clinical performance. Kranti Gaud was outstanding, securing three wickets while conceding only 12 runs, and Deepti Sharma added two crucial wickets, consistently keeping Pakistan under immense pressure throughout the match.
This expected victory is set to extend India’s overwhelming dominance over Pakistan to an impressive 12 consecutive ODI wins. It further emphasizes the growing disparity between the two nations in women’s cricket. A win in Colombo would also propel India to the top of the standings, surpassing Australia.
