The highly anticipated Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction is set to electrify New Delhi in late November. According to sources within the BCCI, this pivotal event will be followed by the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction in mid-December.

Insiders confirm the WPL auction dates are tentatively locked for November 26 or 27 in the capital. Meanwhile, the BCCI is casting a wider net for the IPL auction, considering a couple of locations both within India and internationally before making a final decision.
Given that the last WPL mega auction took place three seasons ago, this upcoming event promises a monumental squad reshuffle. With five existing WPL teams and a maximum allowance of 18 players per squad, approximately 90 players are expected to go under the hammer. A select number of star players will, however, be retained by their respective franchises, adding another layer of intrigue to the bidding.
The fourth season of the Women’s Premier League is slated for January 2026, a strategic shift from its usual February-March schedule. This advancement aims to ensure the tournament concludes well before the Men’s 2026 T20 World Cup, which India and Sri Lanka are co-hosting during the same period.
