Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday paid heartfelt tributes to police personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in service to the nation. “Their courage, discipline, and devotion to duty embody the highest ideals of public service,” Khandu stated on X.
He also extended profound gratitude to the families of the fallen officers, recognizing their crucial support. “We also salute their families, whose strength and sacrifice stand as the unseen pillars behind their heroism,” he added.
This tribute underscores the state government’s deep appreciation for the police force, particularly those serving in Arunachal Pradesh’s challenging terrains. CM Khandu reiterated the government’s ongoing dedication to enhancing policing infrastructure and ensuring the well-being of personnel and their families.
State Home Minister Mama Natung echoed these sentiments, affirming the government’s commitment to improving police facilities and welfare. He noted efforts to equip the force with modern resources to address evolving security needs.
Director General of Police Anand Mohan also reaffirmed the department’s dedication to public safety and welfare. “The sacrifices of our fallen comrades continue to inspire us to serve with integrity, courage, and compassion. We remain dedicated to ensuring that their legacy lives on through our work,” the DGP stated.
Police Commemoration Day, observed annually on October 21, honors police personnel who died in the line of duty. Its origins trace back to 1959, when ten Indian police officers were martyred defending the nation’s borders in Ladakh. The day serves as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by India’s police forces.
Solemn ceremonies were held across the state to mark the occasion, including wreath-laying at the police headquarters in honor of the fallen heroes.
