Arjun Tendulkar faced a challenging day at the crease during the Elite Group B clash between Goa and Chandigarh, held at the Goa Cricket Association Academy Ground in Porvorim on Thursday. His batting stint was brief and forgettable, managing only 1 run from 6 balls before being caught by substitute fielder Raman Bishnoi off Vishu Kashyap’s delivery.
Despite Tendulkar’s early dismissal, Goa amassed a formidable total of 566 runs over 160.4 overs, thanks to exceptional double centuries from Lalit Yadav (213) and Abhinav Tejrana (205). For Chandigarh, Vishu Kashyap emerged as the standout bowler, claiming an impressive 7 wickets for 173 runs. In response, Chandigarh reached 34 for 1 after eight overs, with Arjun Azad unbeaten on 21 and Manan Vohra on 11.
However, Arjun Tendulkar turned his fortunes around with the ball, making a vital contribution by taking Goa’s only wicket before stumps on Day 2, offering a glimpse of his all-round potential.
This match marked the 26-year-old’s comeback to first-class cricket, his last appearance being in November 2024 for Goa against Arunachal Pradesh. He also last played a List A game in December 2024. While he hadn’t featured in domestic cricket recently, he was part of the Mumbai Indians squad in IPL 2025, acquired for Rs 30 lakh, though he didn’t get an opportunity to play any matches that season.
Throughout his career, Arjun has played 17 first-class games, accumulating 532 runs and securing 37 wickets, notably hitting a century on his Ranji Trophy debut against Rajasthan. In T20 matches, the left-arm seamer and capable lower-order batter has taken 25 wickets and scored 27 runs. He has also played five IPL matches for Mumbai Indians since 2021.
