NEW DELHI: In a highly anticipated Asia Cup 2025 clash held in Dubai, the Indian bowling attack proved formidable. Kuldeep Yadav led the charge with a crucial three-wicket haul, effectively supported by Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel, who each claimed two wickets. Their combined efforts successfully limited Pakistan to 127/9 within their allotted 20 overs, setting up a manageable chase for India.
However, it was Abhishek Sharma who truly captivated the audience with a dazzling batting display. Opening the innings alongside Shubman Gill, Sharma strode to the crease, exchanged fist bumps, and prepared to face the formidable Shaheen Afridi. Afridi, known for his ability to deliver thunderbolts with the new ball and having already smashed a few towering sixes earlier in the game to boost Pakistan’s total, was expected to be a major threat.
But Abhishek Sharma had other plans in mind.
He wasted no time, cracking Afridi’s very first delivery through the covers for a boundary. He then followed up this aggressive start by audaciously launching the pacer over long-off for a magnificent six, instantly providing India with a flying start. When Afridi returned for his second over, Sharma continued his relentless assault, driving the first ball for another four and then clearing the mid-wicket fence on the third delivery.
Abhishek’s blistering cameo, a whirlwind 31 runs off just 13 balls, was adorned with four boundaries and two towering sixes. His fiery innings eventually came to an end when he was dismissed by Saim Ayub.
Following India’s comfortable seven-wicket triumph over Pakistan, a jubilant Abhishek Sharma took to social media to share a simple yet profound two-word message: “Jai Hind.”
