The air crackled with emotion, pride, and celebration as Harmanpreet Kaur’s Indian Women’s Cricket team made history, lifting their maiden ICC Women’s World Cup trophy at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Following India’s decisive 52-run victory over South Africa in the final, the jubilant captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, turned to the cameras amid the ongoing festivities. With a beaming smile, she pointed to the stadium’s giant screen, which displayed “ICC Women’s World Cup India 2025,” and declared, “…champion likhke aayega” (champions will be written here), perfectly encapsulating the triumphant spirit of the evening.
Harmanpreet Kaur shared a special moment with the camera during Team India’s trophy celebrations.
Go Beyond The Boundary!
A visibly overjoyed Harmanpreet danced her way to the podium, hoisting the glittering trophy high above her head. This moment marked the culmination of years of dedication and pursuit, as India’s women’s cricket team finally achieved a historic feat that had eluded previous generations.
Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, instrumental throughout the tournament, joined her teammates, proudly posing with the coveted trophy as photographers captured this long-awaited moment of triumph.
Earlier, Harmanpreet had received the World Cup trophy from ICC chairman Jay Shah, an exchange that became one of the defining moments of the final.
As she stepped forward to accept the trophy, Harmanpreet instinctively began to bow in a gesture of respect, a moment gently acknowledged by Shah with a nod, adding another poignant layer to the victory.
On the field, India’s collective brilliance was undeniable. Shafali Verma’s explosive 87 runs and Deepti Sharma’s exceptional all-round performance, contributing 55 runs and a crucial five-wicket haul, propelled the team to a formidable total of 298/7.
Despite a valiant century from South African captain Laura Wolvaardt, India’s bowlers maintained their disciplined attack, securing the nation’s historic maiden women’s world title.
