The College of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram (CET) recently hosted a dynamic global startup ideation workshop, collaborating with the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, USA. This exciting event took place on a Sunday, bringing together aspiring innovators.
This initiative was proudly organized by the CET Alumni Association’s Chennai chapter, leveraging its dedicated entrepreneurship platform, IgniTES. The primary goal was to introduce cutting-edge international startup development frameworks and innovation methodologies directly to the local entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Named the ‘launchU’ ideation program, the workshop delved into crucial aspects like effective problem-solving, thorough market validation, and structured venture development. Guiding the participants was Jay Jayamohan, the executive director of CIE, a distinguished social entrepreneur and a proud alumnus from CET’s 1986 batch. With a remarkable track record, Mr. Jayamohan has co-founded several successful companies, and has impressively secured over $20 million in venture capital funding.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Mr. Jayamohan stated, “CIE is thrilled to collaborate with CET in bringing the launchU program to this region, a program consistently proven to be an exceptionally effective tool for cultivating innovation.” He emphasized that the ideation program equips budding entrepreneurs with leading frameworks and best practices, empowering them to define a compelling value proposition and identify their target market, ultimately fostering sustainable and thriving businesses.
The launchU program, meticulously crafted by CIE, is specifically designed to empower students by developing their core competencies in innovation, entrepreneurship, and design thinking. Through engaging hands-on sessions and personalized mentoring, attendees had the invaluable opportunity to explore advanced innovation management techniques and practical entrepreneurial problem-solving strategies.
CET Principal Suresh K. confirmed that the institution plans to roll out additional programs, specifically tailored for various student groups, in continued collaboration with CIE.
