Former Indian cricketer and renowned commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu has shared his deep admiration for Rishabh Pant’s extraordinary comeback to international cricket. This emotional return follows a severe, life-threatening car accident. Pant, a dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman, is now set to lead the India A team in a four-day match against South Africa A, scheduled for October 30th at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Pant has been diligently recuperating from a foot fracture, an injury sustained earlier this year during the Manchester Test. His return to the playing field signifies a remarkable recovery and unwavering dedication.

Speaking passionately on Star Sports, Sidhu hailed Pant as ‘a phoenix that has risen from the ashes.’ He vividly recalled, ‘No one imagined he could be up walking again (after the accident).’ Sidhu emphasized Pant’s exceptional courage and his impressive track record, stating, ‘Look at his fearlessness, look at the extraordinary feat he has achieved. The way he has batted across Australia, the matches that he made us win in England, is remarkable. The attitude he carries on his heart defines Rishabh Pant. He is one of the finest cricketers that I have ever seen. A joy as I watch him. Rishabh Pant has taught everyone how to overcome adversities in life.’

As part of his phased return, Pant recently participated in Delhi’s Ranji Trophy second-round match against Himachal Pradesh, held from October 25th to 28th.

The squads for the upcoming four-day matches against South Africa A have been announced:

For the first four-day match, India’s squad includes: Rishabh Pant (captain, wicketkeeper), Ayush Mhatre, N Jagadeesan (wicketkeeper), Sai Sudharsan (vice-captain), Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar, Harsh Dubey, Tanush Kotian, Manav Suthar, Anshul Kamboj, Yash Thakur, Ayush Badoni, and Saransh Jain.

For the second four-day match, the squad features: Rishabh Pant (captain, wicketkeeper), KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), Sai Sudharsan (vice-captain), Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Harsh Dubey, Tanush Kotian, Manav Suthar, Khaleel Ahmed, Gurnoor Brar, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, and Akash Deep.

This series against South Africa A is a significant milestone in Pant’s journey back to top-tier competitive cricket, coming just two days after his recent Ranji Trophy appearance. His inspiring comeback demonstrates immense resilience and skill.
