Indian captain Rohit Sharma is famously known for his occasional forgetfulness, a trait often good-naturedly pointed out by his teammates. This past Saturday, he delivered yet another memorable, albeit amusing, moment after a stellar performance.
During India’s victory, where Rohit smashed a magnificent 121 runs and Kohli contributed a strong 74, the post-match celebrations brought a comical oversight.

As Rohit shook hands with the opposing players, he completely overlooked the fact that he was still wearing his helmet. The humorous incident caught the eye of his Team India teammates, including Shubman Gill and KL Rahul, who couldn’t help but erupt in laughter.
It took a moment for sidearm thrower Dayananda Garani to hand Rohit his cap, at which point the Indian captain finally realized his mistake, removed his helmet, donned the cap, and proceeded to the post-match presentation.
Beyond the lighter moments, Rohit Sharma reflected on his career, particularly his experiences in Australia. Following a challenging One Day International (ODI) series against Australia, the seasoned player shared his deep appreciation for playing in the country.
“I always love coming here and playing. I have fond memories of 2008,” Rohit stated after being crowned Player of the Match and Player of the Series. “I’m not sure if we’ll be coming back to Australia, but we enjoy our cricket no matter what accolades we achieve.”
“We started afresh in Perth — that’s how I look at things,” he added, acknowledging the unique challenges of touring Australia.
Sharma also underscored the importance of experience and mentorship, especially for the younger generation of players.
“You expect tough pitches and quality bowlers in Australia. Playing here is never easy. We couldn’t win the series, but there are plenty of positives. It’s a young side, and there will be a lot of learnings,” he explained.
“When I came into the squad, seniors helped us a lot; now it’s our job to do the same. We need to guide them, create game plans, and go back to basics, which I still do every time I play here,” he concluded.
For Rohit, his connection with Australia runs deeper than mere match results.
“I’ve had great memories here — from the SCG to Perth. I love playing here and hope to continue doing what I do,” he reaffirmed, emphasizing his enduring passion for Australian cricket and its fervent fan base.
