HYDERABAD
Twelve individuals from Telangana, who had traveled to Jordan in pursuit of better work opportunities but found themselves in dire straits, have safely returned to their homes. Their repatriation on Saturday was made possible through the dedicated efforts of senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader, T. Harish Rao.
Upon their arrival in Hyderabad, the grateful workers gathered at Mr. Rao’s residence to express their heartfelt thanks for his crucial assistance in bringing them back to their homeland after enduring numerous challenges in Jordan. Mr. Rao took the time to speak with them, listening intently as they recounted the difficulties they faced abroad.
The returning migrants shared their emotional ordeal, recalling how they had desperately appealed to various political parties in the State for help. They emphasized that only the BRS had genuinely responded to their pleas, ultimately securing their journey home. They spoke of the immense hardships, including days when even a single proper meal was unattainable.
Mr. Rao highlighted that the BRS had promptly brought the migrants’ plight to the attention of both the State and Central governments, making repeated requests for intervention, which initially went unheeded. Their return was finally sanctioned only after a penalty was paid on their behalf. He also pointed out the widespread issue of many Telangana migrants heading to Gulf countries, often incurring significant debt at home, only to be exploited and deceived by unscrupulous agents.
Furthermore, Mr. Rao criticized the Congress government, alleging its failure to uphold promises regarding the establishment of a welfare board specifically for migrant workers. Demonstrating his commitment, Mr. Rao personally covered the return airfare for all twelve workers.
