India is set to compete in the third One-Day International against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground without the services of all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy. This match marks one of two significant changes made by the Indian side in a series they have already lost, with Australia leading 2-0 after victories in Perth and Adelaide.

Reddy’s absence stems from a quadriceps injury he sustained during the second ODI. A media note from the BCCI confirmed: “Nitish Kumar Reddy sustained a left quadriceps injury during the second ODI in Adelaide and was subsequently unavailable for selection for the third ODI. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring him on a daily basis.”
At the toss, Australia’s captain Mitchell Marsh won and opted to bat first. Australia made just one change to their squad, bringing in Nathan Ellis to replace Xavier Bartlett.
For India, led by Shubman Gill, two alterations were made to the playing XI. Kuldeep Yadav and Prasidh Krishna were included, taking the spots of Arshdeep Singh and the injured Nitish Kumar Reddy.
