Arjun Tendulkar faced a challenging moment with the bat, managing to score only 1 run from 6 balls during the Elite Group B encounter between Goa and Chandigarh. The match, held at the Goa Cricket Association Academy Ground in Porvorim on Thursday, saw him caught out by substitute fielder Raman Bishnoi, off the bowling of Vishu Kashyap.
Goa, however, put up an impressive display, compiling a monumental total of 566 runs in 160.4 overs. This formidable score was largely thanks to spectacular double centuries from Lalit Yadav, who scored 213, and Abhinav Tejrana, with 205 runs. Chandigarh’s bowling effort was spearheaded by Vishu Kashyap, who claimed an outstanding 7 wickets for 173 runs. In response, Chandigarh finished Day 2 at 34 for 1 after eight overs, with Arjun Azad unbeaten on 21 and Manan Vohra on 11.
Arjun Tendulkar of Mumbai Indians
Despite his struggle with the bat, Arjun Tendulkar showcased his potential by making a significant impact with the ball. He successfully secured Goa’s solitary wicket before the close of play on Day 2, providing a much-needed breakthrough for his team.
This match marked the 26-year-old all-rounder’s return to first-class cricket, his last appearance in this format dating back to November 2024 against Arunachal Pradesh. His most recent List A match was in December 2024. Although he was part of the Mumbai Indians squad for IPL 2025, acquired for Rs 30 lakh, he did not get an opportunity to play a single game during that season.
In his first-class career, Arjun has accumulated 532 runs and taken 37 wickets across 17 matches, notably achieving a century on his Ranji Trophy debut against Rajasthan. In the T20 format, the left-arm seamer and capable lower-order batter has secured 25 wickets and scored 27 runs. He has also made five appearances for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League since 2021.
