The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 has kicked off with unprecedented viewership figures, firmly establishing the soaring popularity of women’s cricket. Recent data from the ICC and JioHotstar reveals that the first 13 matches of the tournament captivated over 60 million viewers, an astounding five-fold increase compared to the 2022 edition.

Total watch-time for the tournament has skyrocketed to an impressive 7 billion minutes, representing a twelve-fold surge from the previous event. This immense engagement underscores a monumental shift in how audiences are embracing women’s cricket globally.

A standout moment arrived with the thrilling India vs. Pakistan encounter on October 5, which not only set a new benchmark but also became the single most-watched women’s international cricket match in history. This epic clash alone garnered 28.4 million viewers and generated an incredible 1.87 billion minutes of watch-time.

Another significant milestone was reached during India’s match against Australia on October 12, which recorded an all-time high of 4.8 million peak concurrent viewers on JioHotstar, further cementing the growing fan base for women’s cricket.

The surge in interest was also clearly reflected in television ratings. The India vs. Pakistan match achieved the highest-rated league-stage game in the history of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup. Furthermore, the first 11 matches, including India’s face-offs with Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and South Africa, collectively reached 72 million viewers – a remarkable 166% increase from the previous tournament. In a staggering display of engagement, viewing minutes for these matches collectively soared by 327% to 6.3 billion.

In a progressive move towards greater accessibility, coverage of India’s matches is being broadcast in a variety of languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. For the first time, an Indian Sign Language feed is also available, demonstrating a strong commitment to inclusive access for all fans.

As the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 continues, it is consistently setting new benchmarks for women’s cricket. The overwhelming fan engagement and record-breaking audiences clearly indicate a bright and flourishing future for the sport, both in India and across the globe.
