Indian cricket star Hardik Pandya is set to visit the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru on Tuesday for a crucial evaluation of his left quadriceps injury. This injury, sustained during an Asia Cup 2025 match against Sri Lanka, previously forced him to sit out the final against Pakistan and the subsequent tour of Australia. Pandya, an invaluable all-rounder, was advised rest by the BCCI medical team due to his inability to take the field during the intense final match. A photograph captures a moment of Hardik Pandya warming up before an Asia Cup cricket match between India and Sri Lanka at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
While the initial recovery period for Pandya’s injury was estimated at four to six weeks, his assessment in Bengaluru is expected to provide a clearer picture of his progress. Fortunately, no surgery is required at this stage, and there’s optimism for his return to competitive action as early as next month. During his six appearances in the Asia Cup, Pandya contributed significantly, taking four wickets and scoring a valuable 38 runs against Bangladesh.
Pandya’s absence from the squad prompted India to call up young talent Nitish Kumar Reddy, and it will be intriguing to observe his performance in Australia. Reddy had a commendable run in the Border Gavaskar Trophy last year and aims to replicate that success this month. Meanwhile, the rest of the Indian team is scheduled to depart for Australia tomorrow. Captain Virat Kohli has already joined the squad in Delhi, with Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer expected to arrive later in the day.
