The Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has achieved a significant victory, apprehending a key accomplice connected to two international fugitive gangsters. This arrest on Saturday, October 4, 2025, is crucial as these fugitives were wanted in a prominent murder investigation.
Authorities confirmed that the apprehension took place in the Ludhiana Rural area, following a tense confrontation.
DGP Gaurav Yadav announced the breakthrough on X (formerly Twitter), identifying the arrested individual as Gurpreet Singh, also known as Vicky Nihang. He described Nihang as a pivotal associate of foreign-based gang leaders Doni Bal and Munn Ghanshampuria. The arrest occurred after a brief but intense exchange of fire when the police team moved to detain him in Ludhiana Rural.
According to DGP Yadav, Singh was a wanted man for his involvement in the murder of social media influencer Kartik Baggan in Ludhiana. Initial investigations have also uncovered Singh’s extensive criminal background, including a prior arrest in January 2025 in Mohali, where he was found possessing two illegal foreign-made pistols.
The DGP emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating that Singh and his network were operating under the direct orders of their overseas handlers. Their mission: to execute a series of high-profile killings across Punjab. This timely arrest, therefore, has successfully thwarted what could have been a string of sensational crimes.
During the operation, officers successfully recovered one pistol and four live cartridges from the apprehended suspect.
