Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued a strong warning to the public, urging them not to purchase products bearing halal certification. He revealed that the state of Uttar Pradesh has prohibited the sale of these items, asserting that the revenue generated from them is allegedly being redirected to fund “terrorism, forced conversion, and love jihad.”
During an address at programs in Gorakhpur, which marked the centenary year of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Adityanath implored attendees to check for halal certification tags on their purchases. He highlighted that an extensive range of products, including everyday items like soaps, clothing, and matchsticks, now feature this certification.
The Chief Minister stated that the halal certification system generates approximately ₹25,000 crore annually, despite lacking official government recognition. He claimed that these funds are being “misused into terrorism, love jihad and conversion in India.”
Adityanath also touched upon the historical struggles against “political Islam,” suggesting that its impact on Sanatan Dharma has been significant yet inadequately discussed. He referenced historical figures like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Guru Gobind Singh, Maharana Pratap, and Maharana Sanga, noting that their battles against political Islam are often overlooked in favor of discussions about resistance against European colonial powers.
Furthermore, Adityanath praised the RSS for its crucial role in the construction of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir, commending the organization’s resilience over its 100-year history. He contrasted the RSS’s unwavering commitment with the questioning of the temple’s construction by parties like the Samajwadi Party, the Congress, and the INDIA bloc.
