Authorities in Saidabad have successfully apprehended a 48-year-old woman in connection with the brutal murder of her 70-year-old relative, along with the theft of his valuable silver ornaments.
The accused, identified as Nenavath Manga, is alleged to have committed the heinous act on the night of September 14-15 at the victim, Katroth Shivaiah’s, under-construction home in Vishnu Nagar. This information was shared by DCP Chaitnya Kumar (South East).
According to the police report, the victim’s elder daughter discovered her father deceased on September 15. He bore visible strangulation marks, and his personal silver ornaments were conspicuously absent.
Investigations quickly pointed towards Manga, a resident of the same locality. It was revealed that she had a history of bitter disagreements with the victim’s family. Specifically, Shivaiah had held Manga responsible for financial losses incurred during an incomplete construction project, which stemmed from a contractor named Venkatesh whom she had introduced.
Further probing uncovered that Manga had also developed an inappropriate relationship with the contractor and was facing significant financial difficulties, including outstanding vehicle loans.
The turning point arrived on September 14. After a heated argument with Shivaiah’s wife, which escalated into a public confrontation with Shivaiah himself, Manga allegedly made the grim decision to end his life.
In the pre-dawn hours of September 15, while Shivaiah was in an intoxicated sleep, Manga reportedly suffocated him using a pillow before strangling him with a plastic thread. She then proceeded to strip him of his silver ornaments, which she later concealed in a rice container at her own residence, the officer detailed.
Crucial evidence, including the plastic thread and the pillow, was recovered from the crime scene. A subsequent post-mortem examination conclusively confirmed that strangulation was the cause of death.
Following her arrest, the police successfully recovered the stolen silver ornaments, weighing approximately 30 tolas, based on her confession and guidance.
