Himachal Pradesh witnessed a significant turn in its weather this Monday (October 6, 2025), as fresh snowfall graced its higher elevations for the second consecutive day. This beautiful yet impactful white blanket brought with it a noticeable dip in minimum temperatures across the region.
Officials reported considerable snowfall in the Lahaul and Spiti district, with Gondhla receiving 5 cm and Keylong recording 4 cm of snow. This picturesque covering transformed the landscape, hinting at the onset of winter.
Beyond the snowfall, numerous parts of the state have been drenched by intermittent heavy rains since Sunday evening (October 5, 2025). Specific areas reported substantial rainfall, including Guler with 42 mm, Nagrota Suriyan with 38.4 mm, Bharwain with 37 mm, Dehra Gopipur with 35 mm, Pachhad with 34.2 mm, Aghar with 32.8 mm, Nadaun with 28 mm, and Murari Devi with 27 mm.
Adding to the challenging conditions, several districts, including Jot, Murari Devi, Sundernagar, Bhunter, Kangra, Palampur, and Shimla, experienced thunderstorms. Furthermore, powerful gusty winds, reaching speeds between 41 and 57 kmph, swept through Hamirpur, Narkanda, Kufri, Bajaura, Reckong Peo, Tabo, and Kotkhai, creating a severe weather scenario.
In light of these developments, the local weather office has issued an ‘orange warning’ for Monday (October 6), predicting heavy to very heavy rains, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong gusty winds (40-50 kmph) for the districts of Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, and Mandi. A ‘yellow warning’ for isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds is also in effect for Tuesday (October 7), urging residents and visitors to remain vigilant.
