A volatile situation gripped S.S. Konda village in Gangadhara Nellore mandal on Friday after a violent confrontation broke out between two rival liquor shop owners. The conflict reportedly began when one establishment started selling alcohol at unusually low prices, attracting a large customer base and severely impacting the sales of its competitor.
According to local residents, the shop offering these cut-price drinks was purportedly operated by a prominent figure from an opposition party, allegedly generating significant profits. Furious over the substantial business losses, the owner of the other liquor shop reportedly orchestrated an assault on his rival, who suffered severe injuries and required immediate medical attention at the Gangadhara Nellore area hospital.
While village elders attempted to mediate and calm the agitated parties, a palpable tension lingered. Police swiftly arrived at the scene and initiated a thorough investigation. Their primary focus is to determine if the inexpensive liquor was counterfeit and whether this local dispute is connected to the recent Mulakalacheruvu liquor scam uncovered in the adjacent Annamayya district.
