The revered Sri Durga Melleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam is buzzing with elaborate arrangements for the upcoming ‘Moola Nakshatram’ day, scheduled for September 29, 2025. This Monday is considered a profoundly auspicious day during the ongoing Navaratri festivities, when the Goddess is worshipped in her magnificent ‘Sri Saraswati Devi Alankaram’, representing the divine embodiment of knowledge and arts.
Adding to the grandeur of the occasion, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is expected to offer sacred ‘silk vastrams’ (traditional garments) to the presiding deity around 3 p.m. Security measures have been significantly enhanced, and traffic restrictions will be in place to ensure smooth proceedings during the Chief Minister’s visit.
The temple will open its doors to devotees as early as 3 a.m., with dedicated free queue lines organized to facilitate a seamless darshan for all pilgrims. Officials have assured the public that every effort has been made to prevent inconvenience and accommodate the anticipated surge in visitors.
In a significant move to ensure equitable access, the temple has temporarily suspended all paid darshan ticket systems for this special day. All queue lines will operate on a free darshan basis, welcoming everyone to partake in the blessings.
Devotees have already begun queuing up, eagerly awaiting their turn to offer prayers to the Goddess and participate in the various special rituals planned. Authorities kindly request all pilgrims to extend their cooperation to the temple staff, adhere to instructions, and maintain discipline for a safe and spiritually enriching celebration.
Meanwhile, preparations are also in full swing for the majestic ‘Hamsa Vahanam’ – a celestial boat ride. This event, where the deity is ceremoniously carried in a swan-shaped boat on the sacred waters of the Krishna River, is a highlight of Vijayadasami and traditionally draws thousands of devotees.
