The Vijayawada International Airport recently hosted a vibrant celebration for ‘Yatri Sewa Diwas’ (Passenger Service Day) on Wednesday, September 17th. The event was marked by a series of engaging health, cultural, and environmental initiatives, fostering a stronger connection with both passengers and the local community.
Distinguished guests, including Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, who planted a sapling, Tripura Governor N. Indrasena Reddy, Minister of State for Communications Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, and BJP State president P.V.N. Madhav, graced the occasion. A highlight of the day was the enthusiastic welcome extended to all arriving passengers, setting a festive tone for the airport’s commitment to exceptional service.
Community well-being was a central theme, with former Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu inaugurating a crucial blood donation camp. Furthermore, a free eye check-up was specifically arranged for cab drivers, benefiting approximately 100 individuals. Departing passengers also had the opportunity to receive basic health screenings before their journeys.
In a bid to inspire the next generation, 100 Class X students from Zilla Parishad High School, Gannavaram, were invited for a special familiarization tour. Airport officials offered insights into the diverse career opportunities available within the dynamic aviation sector. The day’s festivities also included a creative drawing competition for children and a captivating folk dance performance, adding a touch of artistic flair to the celebration.
