The Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) recently took decisive action, successfully securing a significant 38-acre plot of land in Pet Basheerabad, located in the Qutbullahpur mandal of Medchal-Malkajgiri district. This crucial move, executed on Wednesday, involved fencing off the entire property to prevent further unauthorized occupation.
This particular land parcel, identified by survey number 25/2, has been designated for the Jawaharlal Nehru Journalists Mutually Aided Cooperative Housing Society for an impressive eighteen years. The initial allocation by the then-state government was intended to provide housing for journalists. However, the property subsequently became entangled in various legal disputes, which unfortunately brought the much-anticipated land allotments to a standstill.
Adding to these complications, HYDRAA received a formal complaint from representatives of the journalists’ society, reporting ongoing encroachments on the valuable land. Responding promptly, HYDRAA officials conducted a thorough joint inspection with personnel from the Revenue Department and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA). This collaborative effort conclusively confirmed the presence of widespread encroachments.
Following the inspection, HYDRAA proceeded to fence off the accessible portions of the land, carefully excluding any existing occupied dwellings from this immediate action. Looking ahead, HYDRAA chief A.V. Ranganath announced that a meeting will soon be convened with the residents of the encroached houses. During this upcoming session, their property documents will undergo meticulous scrutiny in cooperation with both Revenue and HMDA officials, aiming to resolve the long-standing dispute and ensure fair resolution.
