H.D. Deve Gowda, the respected former Prime Minister and veteran leader of the JD(S) party, has been discharged from Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru. After a week of treatment, the 92-year-old politician returned home on October 13, 2025, with his condition reported as stable.
Mr. Gowda was admitted to the hospital on October 7 after experiencing a urinary tract infection (UTI), which presented with high fever and chills. During his stay, he received treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to manage his condition.
The Janata Dal Secular (JD(S)) party confirmed his discharge via a post on social media platform X, also sharing a picture of the recovering leader. In their social media update, the JD(S) announced that doctors have strictly advised the 92-year-old leader to take an additional 15 days of rest. Consequently, the party has urged all leaders, party workers, and well-wishers to avoid visiting his residence during this recovery period.
The party further clarified that once Mr. Gowda has fully recuperated and completed his rest period, he will personally visit the party headquarters at J.P. Bhavan to meet with everyone.
Earlier, following his admission, Dr. C.N. Manjunath, who is the Bengaluru Rural MP and Mr. Deve Gowda’s son-in-law, had explained the situation. He stated that the former PM had developed a high fever and chills due to a UTI, which also affected his renal parameters, necessitating hospital care. At the time, Dr. Manjunath anticipated a stay of one to two days in the ICU before a transfer to a general ward.
