Barbers in Vellore were the recipients of a vital community service this past Friday, as a free medical camp was officially opened at the Police Welfare Centre in Old Town. The inauguration was led by G.V. Selvam, who serves as both the Vice-President of VIT University and Chairman of Vellore International School (VIS), Chennai.
This comprehensive, day-long event offered a wide array of medical services. Attendees benefited from general health check-ups, detailed cardiac and dental evaluations, and thorough orthopedic assessments. In addition to modern medical care, the camp also incorporated traditional Siddha and Ayurveda treatments, providing a holistic approach to wellness. The initiative was a collaborative effort between Thalaimurai Peravai, a dedicated local voluntary organization, and the esteemed Sri Narayani Hospital & Research Centre (SNHRC).
Beyond consultations, participants received essential free medicines and tablets. For those requiring more specialized care, referrals were seamlessly arranged to Sri Narayani Hospital, where follow-up treatments were made accessible at significantly reduced rates. The camp saw an impressive turnout, with over 100 individuals availing themselves of the much-needed medical services.
Distinguished guests at the event included Professor N. Balaji, Director of SNHRC, and Sivagami, the former District Collector of Vellore, who lent their support to this impactful community health effort.
