Naruvi Hospitals recently organized a successful walkathon in Vellore, aiming to spotlight the critical role of a healthy lifestyle and routine medical check-ups in preventing strokes. This impactful event coincided with World Stroke Day, emphasizing a global commitment to health awareness.
The walkathon commenced with much enthusiasm, officially flagged off by Vellore MLA P. Karthikeyan. Dignitaries present included Mayor Sujatha Anandkumar and Naruvi Hospitals’ Chairman, G.V. Sampath, underscoring the community-wide support for this health initiative.
Addressing the participants, Mr. Sampath highlighted several key risk factors contributing to stroke, such as excessive fast-food consumption, substance abuse (smoking, drugs, and alcohol), high blood pressure, diabetes, elevated cholesterol levels, and chronic stress. He stressed the profound importance of recognizing symptoms and early warning signs for timely stroke prevention and intervention.
A vibrant crowd of over 500 volunteers enthusiastically participated in the walkathon. The route began at the historic Fort Grounds and concluded at Naruvi Hospitals, conveniently located along the Chennai – Bengaluru Highway (NH 48).
Prominent figures from Naruvi Hospitals, including Vice Chairperson Anitha Sampath, Chief Operating Officer Saravanan Raman, and General Manager Nithin Sampath, were also in attendance, as reported in a press release.
