In preparation for a series of major festivals, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has conducted a comprehensive review of the state’s law and order machinery. During a video conference with senior officials from across the state, held from Gorakhpur, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for heightened vigilance and strict action against those who might disrupt public peace.
With festivals like Dhanteras, Ayodhya Deepotsav, Diwali, Govardhan Puja, Bhai Dooj, Devuthan Ekadashi, Dev Deepawali in Varanasi, and Chhath Puja on the horizon, Adityanath underscored the sensitive nature of this period for maintaining peace, security, and effective governance. He instructed all police and administrative teams to be on round-the-clock alert, leveraging past experiences to ensure celebrations unfold harmoniously.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of taking preventive actions against individuals or groups aiming to disturb tranquility and urged for stern action against those spreading rumors or fake news via social media. He assured that traders would not face undue harassment during festive market activities, directing district magistrates and police chiefs to collaborate with market associations to foster order and public confidence.
Adityanath also issued specific guidelines regarding the sale and storage of firecrackers, mandating that shops and godowns be located away from residential areas. Enhanced firefighting measures and increased police presence at sale points were ordered, along with timely issuance of licenses and strict action against illegal storage.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister highlighted the critical need for effective crowd and traffic management, calling for the development of city-specific traffic plans to prevent congestion, particularly around marketplaces and religious sites. He also instructed senior officers to personally attend to any untoward incidents, ensuring swift communication and response to prevent escalation.
Looking ahead to major events like the Ayodhya Deepotsav and Varanasi’s Dev Deepawali, Adityanath demanded the highest standards of safety, security, and crowd management. He also mandated special cleanliness drives for Chhath Puja, ensuring the protection of water bodies and the upkeep of ghats, alongside ensuring uninterrupted power supply across the state.
In the health sector, the CM directed that emergency and trauma care services remain fully functional, doctors be available, and food adulteration checks be intensified without causing unnecessary harassment. He also called for continuous communication between officials at all levels and the public, including media representatives, to foster communal harmony.
Finally, Adityanath reminded officials of the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission examination, urging district and police administrations to ensure fairness and transparency in collaboration with the commission. He stated unequivocally that any attempt to compromise the future of the state’s youth would not be tolerated.
