On Police Commemoration Day, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath led tributes to fallen police officers, commending their bravery and dedication. He assured attendees that the state government would continue its steadfast support for the families of these heroes.
During a solemn ceremony at the Reserve Police Lines memorial, accompanied by the poignant strains of a police band, Chief Minister Adityanath laid a wreath. He addressed the gathering, stating, “We have assembled today to pay homage to all martyred police personnel of the country who sacrificed their lives in service of the nation and demonstrated exemplary devotion to duty.”
Adityanath noted that three police personnel from Uttar Pradesh were among those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the past year. “I offer my heartfelt tributes to them. I also want to assure their families that our government has always stood with them and will continue to do so in the future,” he added.
He highlighted the government’s financial support, noting that ₹30.70 crore has been provided to the dependents of 96 police personnel who lost their lives in service. This assistance extends to families of officers from state police, Central Armed Police Forces, and paramilitary forces from other states who were serving in Uttar Pradesh.
The Chief Minister praised the state police for their unwavering commitment, even in the most demanding situations. “Uttar Pradesh Police personnel have always placed duty above everything else, playing a commendable role in controlling crime, maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of women and girls,” Adityanath said.
Recalling the recent Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, he commended the UP Police and other security forces for their “unprecedented dedication and discipline,” setting high standards for security and order.
Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna also addressed the event, confirming the sacrifice of three state police personnel in the past year: Inspector Sunil Kumar of STF, Chief Constable Durgesh Kumar Singh of Jaunpur Police, and Constable Saurabh Kumar of Gautam Buddh Nagar commissionerate. He extended condolences to their families.
The DGP emphasized Uttar Pradesh Police’s commitment to the Chief Minister’s vision of zero tolerance for crime and criminals, noting that the positive outcomes of these efforts are now evident.
Earlier, Chief Minister Adityanath shared a tribute on X, honoring the martyrs and calling the service and dedication of Uttar Pradesh Police an “ideal model” for society. He stated that their sacrifices would continue to inspire the nation.
Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also took to X to pay his respects, recognizing the courage and sacrifice of the fallen officers as a source of inspiration for all.
