A somber search operation is currently underway near the picturesque Kalyanarevula waterfalls after a 24-year-old man from Palamaner town, identified as Yunus, disappeared. He was reported missing on October 15, 2025, after a fateful encounter with the waterbody nestled within a dense forest area, bordering the Koundinya Wildlife Sanctuary.
Despite persistent efforts spanning two days by local police and forest authorities, Yunus has yet to be found. Officials state that Yunus, who is employed at a chicken center, had visited the waterfalls with his friends. The group’s outing took a tragic turn when Yunus ventured down a steep slope, reportedly to film some short videos. It was during this descent that he lost his footing and was swept away by the powerful, gushing waters.
His friends immediately launched a search but, unable to find him, quickly notified the police. In response, both police and forest department personnel have mobilized expert swimmers to aid in the exhaustive search efforts. The Kalyanarevula waterfalls are known to traverse a thick forest before flowing into the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu. Following the incident, authorities have temporarily restricted public access to the Kalyanarevula area.
