Acclaimed author Sharmishtha Shenoy, widely recognized for her gripping Vikram Rana Mystery series, has just released her latest powerful work, ‘Candle in the Wind.’ This deeply moving collection brings to light a series of true crime stories, meticulously inspired by actual cases from the Hyderabad Police files, each shedding an unflinching light on horrific crimes perpetrated against women.
The book was officially unveiled by Shikha Goel, a prominent figure as the Director of the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau & Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). During the launch, Ms. Goel emphasized that ‘Candle in the Wind’ features five truly compelling narratives, each rooted in real-life investigations. These carefully crafted stories not only expose the brutality of the crimes but also bravely confront systemic shortcomings, the pervasive silence in society, and the critical responsibilities of both law enforcement and the community in addressing and preventing such violence.
Following the unveiling, an insightful panel discussion took place, featuring both Ms. Shikha Goel and author Sharmishtha Shenoy. Moderated by Prof. Usha Raman from the University of Hyderabad, the discussion delved deep into the profound motivations that inspired the creation of this significant book, offering attendees a unique perspective on its impactful message.
