PC builder Maingear has just conjured a truly epic special edition Doom gaming PC series into existence, packed with thoughtful nods to id Software’s legendary shooter franchise. While it heavily features the latest Dark Ages lore, as a long-time Doom fan who remembers battling demons on a 20MHz 386, I particularly appreciate the retro touches that harken back to the original game’s grimacing Doom Guy.
The new Maingear Doom Edition utilizes the HAVN HS 420 Doom The Dark Ages Limited Edition case, which already sets the stage perfectly. This fantastic chassis boasts the iconic green and red color scheme, a circle of the game’s runic script on the side panel, and plenty of Doom branding throughout. It’s a superb foundation, recognized as a top-tier premium case.
Maingear didn’t stop there, adding several custom Doom-inspired elements. One standout feature is the AIO cooler’s pump unit screen, which continuously loops footage from the very first Doom game against a fiery backdrop – a fantastic retro callback! A video showcasing the case design and features would further illustrate these details. A custom graphics card support bracket proudly displays the Doom logo, visible from the front of the case. The red-sleeved PSU cables and glowing crimson internal lighting further intensify the demonic atmosphere.
Even the tier names are inspired by the classic difficulty levels: “Hurt Me Plenty” all the way up to “Nightmare!” While there isn’t an “I’m Too Young To Die” option, you can fully customize the specifications. For instance, a system with a Ryzen 5 9600X CPU and an AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB graphics card will set you back $2,148. The standard configurations are robust, all featuring AMD Ryzen X3D CPUs with 3D V-cache and Nvidia’s cutting-edge Blackwell GPUs.
Each pre-configured tier comes with the same HAVN case, AIO cooler, Phanteks D30 fans, 32GB of T-Force Xtreem DDR5 6,000MHz CL28 RAM, and a 2TB T-Force A440 Pro NVMe SSD. The “Hurt Me Plenty” model is priced at $2,999, boasting a Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU and a GeForce RTX 5070 graphics card.
Stepping up to the “Ultra Violence” model, for $3,999, you get a Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU (considered a top gaming processor) paired with an RTX 5080 GPU. For those who crave ultimate power, the “Nightmare!” model, at $5,999, features the formidable RTX 5090 (one of the fastest graphics cards available) and a monstrous AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D CPU.
However, this is a highly exclusive offering. Only 50 units are available at launch, so if you’re eager to claim one, you’ll need to act fast.
